Wastewater Treatment Plant Manager

Under the supervision of the director of public works, the wastewater plant supervisor is an exempt position that supervises the operation and maintenance of the wastewater facilities to ensure compliance with treatment standards set by the state of Kansas, Department of Health and Environment. This position has supervisory authority over department personnel, establishing work schedules, operational changes, and maintenance operations. Class IV wastewater certification by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment is required.

Essential Functions

  • Supervises and evaluates work of subordinate personnel;
  • Maintains daily log of all activities;
  • Writes request for purchase of items;
  • Prepares monthly work schedule for division;
  • Records and interprets laboratory analysis;
  • Performs functions for the Industrial Pretreatment and local Limits Program;
  • Prepares and maintains division budget;
  • Prepares correspondence and works with other governmental agencies;
  • Attends seminars and schooling for recertification;
  • Oversees all operations of wastewater treatment;
  • Oversees maintenance of equipment and machinery;
  • Prepares division operating procedures manual;
  • Implements and oversees the training of division personnel;
  • Operates computer, lab, and other division equipment;

Marginal Functions

  • Performs tests, maintenance, and other duties as necessary;
  • Other related duties as deemed necessary

Salary/Range: $67,237.09 – $100,855.64
