Wastewater Treatment Plant Manager

Under the supervision of the director of public works, the wastewater plant supervisor is an exempt position that supervises the operation and maintenance of the wastewater facilities to ensure compliance with treatment standards set by the state of Kansas, Department of Health and Environment. This position has supervisory authority over department personnel, establishing work schedules, operational changes, and maintenance operations. Class IV wastewater certification by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment is required.
Five to ten years of wastewater management experience is required. The employee is expected to have acquired the necessary information and skills to perform the job reasonably well after six months in the position.
High school diploma or GED is required. Technical degree or some college credit in biological sciences preferred. Class IV wastewater certification by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment is required. Requires valid Kansas driver's license.
Thorough knowledge of wastewater treatment equipment and materials and monitoring requirements. Mathematical aptitude required. The ability to interpret city, state, and federal regulations as it pertains to wastewater treatment. The ability to read and interpret charts and blueprints. The ability to analyze information from reports, daily logs, and chemical analysis. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
