Erosion Control Inspector

The Erosion Control Inspector position monitors and inspects land disturbing activities within the city and enforces the Surface and Ground Water Quality Ordinance and other applicable City, State, and Federal codes and regulations governing erosion and sediment control. Reviews erosion and sediment control plans for upcoming land-disturbing projects, investigates complaints of erosion and sediment loss and other stormwater control issues, and conducts on-site and in-house inspections of records and construction sites. The vacancy will be filled at either an Erosion Control Inspector I or II level, depending on the successful candidate’s qualifications.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Erosion Control Inspector I: High School Diploma or equivalent and one year of construction inspector or related experience. $17.15-19.15 per hour.
  • Erosion Control Inspector II: High School Diploma or equivalent plus two years of college course work in construction science, civil engineering, geology, or a closely related field. Must have at least three years of related experience in construction inspection, a plus if you have erosion, sediment control and/or stormwater experience. $19.31- 21.31 per hour.
  • Both positions must possess and maintain a valid KS driver’s license and city-insurable driving record.

Pay Range

$17.15 – $21.31 hourly DOQ
