City of Olathe
The City of Olathe, located in the suburb of Kansas City, is seeking a Laboratory Manager to join our Environmental Services team to share our passion to set the standard of excellence. A Laboratory Manager must have the experience and credentials to manage, direct and oversee one of the industry's most advanced NELAC/ISO 17025 certified laboratories to ensure regulatory compliance under the Clean Water Act and Safe Drinking Water Act.
The new lab facility was completed in 2017 and includes advanced filtration and ventilation systems with advanced technology that will allow the department to keep up with sampling and analysis demands. The facility is future ready to support the City of Olathe's water quality analysis needs, for water, wastewater, stormwater and more.
The current environmental lab performs 90,000 tests a year on samples from the city's water, sewer, and stormwater treatment systems to look for dangerous levels of pollutants. It also performs tests for local governments that lack their own labs and can step in to help cities test water quality during emergencies instead of them having to wait several days to get results back from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
